The best coffee shops in Madrid
To tell the truth, I’m a huge fan of coffee. The beverage gives you not only energy in the morning but also, properly prepared, has a rich and enjoyable taste.
I am very selective when it comes to coffee, to say the least.
There are so many factors, that affect the coffee taste, such as:
- grain variety
- grinding quality
- features of grain processing
- temperature
- brewing time
- and even water quality
Every step of making coffee matters and adds uniqueness to a taste. It’s hard to believe how coffee flavor can change even if you increase the temperature by 2 degrees.
You can imagine how hard to have a good enough coffee outside. While living in Madrid, I constantly check out new places — cafes, restaurants, and coffee shops to get new experiences.
Here I collected my top coffee shops in Madrid, which I regularly visit and can recommend without a twinge of conscience.
Naji specialty coffee
There is only one such coffee shop in the whole Madrid. I won’t lie by saying that a pistachio coffee is their calling card. It’s a whole work of art and they add real crushed pistachios into your cup. There are two versions of it: iced — for hot days, just like now, and a more standard, latte. If you are in Spain, don’t miss the unique opportunity to taste the best pistachio coffee in Madrid and maybe in the whole world. Other types of coffee I can recommend as well. This place values and cherishes its name, but be prepared — the coffee shop is quite small, with about 10 tables, and almost always crowded (for a reason).
As their humorous motto goes: No tomo café para despertartme, me despierto para tomar.
Syra coffee
For me, Syra coffee became a standard for coffee taste. The way, how it should be everywhere — not overcooked, not overheated, not overdried, with its own taste of grains. Walking around the city, I come here once in a while to please myself. Always friendly and sociable staff. Some day I was overwhelmed by the amount of questions from a barista. Later, he excused himself and said with a slight smile, that it is his job to make a coffee personally for me, that I can enjoy it and leave the coffee shop in a good mood.
My first acquaintance with the coffee shop happened when I saw their advertising rack, where the inscription “The best coffee here” proudly flaunted, so I wanted to disprove it and now, as you can see, I have become a devoted fan.
Ambu coffee
My love for the Ambu didn’t end up only on tasting the coffee. I’ve already bought two bags of grains from there and I’m planning to buy even more. I just like the taste of beans here. Also, you can expect a serving of coffee, where together with a coffee cup you get a glass of water. For those, who don’t know - water cleanses taste buds and helps you feel the taste better. So the right way of doing it is to drink water before taking a coffee (or before every sip if you feel so).
Let me know, what you think and what your favorite coffee shops are, maybe not even in Spain, but in other places.
